Social worker Mudassar Khan struck off for indecent images
Social worker Mudassar Khan has been struck off the HCPC Register following a conviction at Winchester Court for sixteen counts of distributing indecent photographs of children and possession of indecent photographs of children.
A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard Mudassar Khan is believed to have been employed as a registered social worker by Portsmouth and Southampton Social Services in the area of children’s services including the children in need section.
The Panel further heard that whilst the offence are concentrated into 17 counts the Panel had evidence that there were thousands of images involved.
Panel Chair Christine Mills commented: “Whilst the registrant is not at liberty to further remedy his behaviour the matters involved are so serious that they are arguably beyond repair and will have had lasting damage on his reputation and his profession.
“The nature, gravity and number of images involved; the fact that they had been distributed; and the age of those involved were such that the Panel came to the decision that the only proportionate and appropriate measure in this instance is to remove the registrant from the Register.”
The Panel decided the most appropriate action was to strike Mudassar Khan from the Register with an Interim Suspension Order in place to cover the appeal period.
Mudassar Khan was not present nor represented at the hearing.
