Specialist care scheme to create 30 jobs

A specialist care home which will create 30 jobs in Heckmondwike is nearing completion. Meadow Green, which will provide 53 flats and a separate 10 flat complex to provide specialist care for people with dementia, is being built in Dale Lane. The complex is due to be completed in November.
National health and social care charity Community Integrated Care has been appointed to manage it.

The charity says the scheme will offer assistance to residents with managing their tenancy, as well as ‘an engaging programme of activities that are designed to meet the interests of all who live there’.

There will also be facilities that can be used by the wider community including a hair and beauty salon and a restaurant.

Coun Mollie Walton, Kirklees Council’s Cabinet member for adult social care services, said: “This is the second of our three extra care housing schemes to be completed.

“We’re very excited to know that more people will benefit from this new way of living, where care and support is close at hand in an emergency 24/7, 365 days a year.

“We’re thrilled with the response we’re getting from the new tenants living at Woodland Court in Dewsbury and I’m looking forward to hearing the comments we will be receiving from people moving into Meadow Green.”
