Dementia care home plan mooted for Banbury town centre

A care company has announced it is to submit a
planning application to build a residential home in Banbury town centre.

Care UK, a provider of health and social care, is opening a public consultation on plans for a residential home which would provide nursing and specialist dementia care.

The home ,which would be built on disused parking lots on North Bar Place, would cater for 75 residents and could create up to 70 full-time new jobs .

Care UK’s head of care home development Richard Smith said: “We believe that this is an ideal location for a high-quality care home, close to the town centre and People’s Park.

“We think the proposed home is a great use for this disused site, which has been described as a real eyesore in the past.” He added: “Care UK has an excellent reputation for providing the highest standard of care for older people and this new home would deliver quality and choice for elderly people in Banbury.”

The building has been designed to compliment neighbouring properties and the plans include the retention and repair of the boundary wall with the Leys, and protection of the existing mature trees within and adjacent to the site.

A public exhibition to showcase the plans will be held in a marquee at the rear of the Cromwell Lodge Hotel in North Bar on Monday, June 24,from 4pm-8pm.

There will be an opportunity to meet the care UK team.
