New Bradford care home will create 20 jobs
Recruitment will start next month for 20 staff at a new £750,000 specialist care home being built on the site of an old Bradford pub.
West Yorkshire-based Horizon Healthcare Homes is building Beckside Lodge, an eight-bed care centre, on the site of the now-demolished Cap & Bells public house on Cooper Lane.
The company secured funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland for the project.
Horizon specialises in building care homes for adults with learning difficulties who may also suffer from physical disability or sensory impairment.
A manager from one of Horizon’s existing homes will move to Bradford to head the new team and the company will start taking on staff in July. The home is due to be completed in September and open the following month.
Beckside Lodge is the fifth care home owned and run by Horizon, which operates three homes in Huddersfield and one in Leeds.
Roger Williams, managing director, said: “We are investing in the regeneration of the local area by building an excellent new care home on a former run down pub site as well as creating new job opportunities. We are very excited about our latest project and look forward to being able to offer our services to those in need of specialist support in the city.
“As with all of our homes, we want to offer the highest standard of care to our residents and by investing in brand new, purpose-built facilities we can ensure that individuals are cared for in an environment that is adapted to meet their needs.”
