New chief exec for Shooting Star CHASE children’s hospice service

Children’s hospice service Shooting Star CHASE has announced the appointment of David Burland as its new chief executive.

David Burland, who is currently deputy chief executive at Help the Hospices, will take on the role in November.

Mr Burland has spent the last 13 years at Help the Hospices, where he started as director of fundraising.

“I am delighted to be joining Shooting Star CHASE at this important time in the organisation’s development,” he said.

“I am well aware of the high reputation the charity has for the care it provides and I look forward to working with all the trustees, staff and volunteers in helping to take the organisation forward.”

Mr Burland is taking over from current Shooting Star CHASE chief executive David King, who is leaving the charity after six years.

Speaking on behalf of Shooting Star CHASE, chairman of trustees Ken Hanna said: “We are delighted that David has agreed to join us.

“He brings direct and relevant experience together with a very useful knowledge of the health and social care sectors.”

Shooting Star CHASE provides free care for more than 500 life-limited children, teenagers and families each year.

Its catchment area covers Elmbridge and the rest of Surrey, as well as western London and West Sussex.
