March bodies thought to be care home couple

THE couple who were found dead in their car on Saturday at Floods Ferry, March, are understood to be care home owners Jaswant and Isabel Beeharry, who lived at Friday Bridge.

The couple ran Terrington Lodge in Terrington St Clement and Maria-Helena Care in Dawsmere, Lincolnshire.

The bodies were found by a passerby in a black BMW car. The couple

have yet to be officially identified and police have said they are treating the deaths as not suspicious and have handed the matter over to the coroner.

Formal identification is not expected until Friday.

Glen Garrod, assistant director for adult social care at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Mr and Mrs Beeharry at this tragic time. We will, of course, assist police and the coroner’s office with their investigations in any way we possibly can.

“Our priority now is, and remains, the home’s residents. We’re working closely with the Maria-Helena Care Home staff to ensure all residents and their families receive as much support and reassurance as we’re able to give in this very difficult situation.”

Debbie Olley, Assistant Director of Community Services at Norfolk County Council, said: “This is clearly a difficult time for everyone associated with Terrington Lodge. We are supporting the care home manager and all the residents will continue to be cared for at the home in the immediate future. While there is some unavoidable uncertainty about the future of the home at the moment we will ensure that all the residents continue to receive the care they need.”

On Tuesday the following statement was released by the Coroner’s Office in response to calls regarding the deaths.

“Post mortem examinations are due to take place on Wednesday (today), the formal identification of these individuals will not take place until late on Thursday. Should there be the requirement for an inquest, this will be opened and adjourned on Friday.”
