James Paget Hospital starts work on palliative care centre

Work on a new centre for terminally-ill people has begun at a hospital which serves Norfolk and north Suffolk.

The £1.5m Palliative Care East Centre is being built at the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston.

It will offer clinical care, complementary therapies, psychological and spiritual support and advice on social care and financial matters.

Singer Charlotte Bullen, 20, from Belton, is due to perform a turf-cutting ceremony later.

She helped raise money for the centre by recording and selling CDs.

The Palliative Care East appeal was launched in 2006.
