Care firm Caremark to create 100 jobs
SCORES of new jobs are set to be created after a national care company announced plans to expand.
Caremark will recruit up to 100 staff by introducing new services for children and adults with learning difficulties, as well as boosting provision for dementia sufferers.
It will also take on staff to handle growing demand for its home care services for older people.
The company underwent a major expansion last summer, which involved setting up its current Cheshire South East base at Riverside in Mountbatten Way, Congleton.
Now bosses want to recruit full and part-time care and support workers from Congleton and nearby towns and villages, such as Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and Alsager.
Cheshire South East managing director Mark Birrell said: “We are responding to the needs of local families by providing home-based services to ease the burden of caring for a loved one with disabilities.
“We are also filling a gap in the care structure for people aged between 16 to 18 as they make the transition from children’s care to adult care.
“We are experiencing a tremendous demand for these services and we urgently need to recruit large numbers of staff.”
Caremark helps thousands of people across the UK.
Among the organisations commissioning its services is Cheshire East Council.
Its helps with tasks such as washing and dressing. shopping, preparing meals, domestic duties and also provides companionship.
Mr Birrell said: “Many older people do not wish to undergo the trauma of moving into residential care and we can give them an alternative by providing home-based care and enable people to continue to live an independent life in the comfort of their home.
“The introduction of individual, personal budgets is transforming the way care services are delivered and also the range of services which are available.
“Now people are able to contribute to planning their own care and support and who they want to provide it.
“We have full-time and part-time positions available and we provide full training.”
Councillor Roland Domleo, the council’s cabinet member for adult services, pictured below, welcomed the jobs boost.
He said: “This is very positive news, especially knowing that these jobs will be going to local people. We have shed a lot of jobs in the social care industry over the last 12 months and they were some very good workers.”
