Somerset care contract is extended for two years

A £3MILLION health and care contract improving the life chances of vulnerable children has been extended by North Somerset Council.

The service will also contribute to the Older People’s Strategy Action Plan, increasing the number of people living in their own homes, supporting carers and forging links between health and social care providers.

The contract with Medequip Assistive Technology, worth £2.99million in total, was first awarded for a period of three years commencing April 2009. Now the council has agreed to extend the contract a further two years until March 2014.

A report states: “The contract contributes to the council’s strategic aim of enhancing health and well-being.”
