Bucks people make stand against social care restructure
An overwhelming number of people are against plans to restructure social care in Bucks – and which could see Bourne End Day Centre closed – according to the results of a consultation.
The three-month ‘Having a Good Day’ survey, commissioned by Bucks County Council (BCC) has just been published.
The document caused much controversy in the village when it was released in June and was called a ‘farce’ by Wycombe District councillor Simon Fowke last week.
The consultation relates to the council’s attempt to restructure social care in Bucks and fill an expected £92million deficit over the next three years.
Results showed that a huge 42 per cent of the 755 completed questionnaires disagreed with the council’s plans with a further 27 per cent strongly disagreeing. Only 23 per cent agreed.
BCC said it had been expecting a reluctance to change, but added that the number who agreed with its plans was ‘considerable’.
