Rushden social worker loses appeal against suspension

A Northamptonshire social worker has failed in an appeal against suspension by her profession for dishonesty.

Kathleen Honour, of Springfield Avenue in Rushden, was suspended from her job for two years by the General Social Care Council in March this year.

At Northampton Crown Court in September 2009 she admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice by lying when her partner had been drinking and driving.

He had an accident and Honour told police she had been driving.

The court gave her a 20-week suspended sentence, 120 hours unpaid work and a £400 fine.

A judge at an appeal tribunal dismissed her appeal against the two-year suspension

He said it was proportionate, fair and necessary to maintain public confidence in social workers.
