Social care consultation held to ‘personalise’ Enfield services
A CONSULTATION is being held across the borough on the changing face of social care.
“Personalisation” is a new Government initiative due to be in place by April 2011.
The idea is that people will have more choice and control about how they live their lives.
Councillor Don McGowan, cabinet member for older people and adult social services, said: “It is important that everyone who receives services from Health and Adult Social Care, and their family and carers, and indeed anyone who is interested the future of adult social care in Enfield, fills in a questionnaire.
“At Enfield we are determined to get the personalisation agenda right first time, and tailor services to those who need them the most.
“For this to happen we need to know what aspects of care are important to our residents, and what services they rely on to live independently.”
Everyone who lives or works in Enfield can take part in the consultation, which will run until September 17.
It is available on Enfield Council’s website www.enfield.gov.uk and can also be picked up in council offices, GP surgeries, libraries and clinics.
Other formats are available, including “easy read”, Braille, and foreign languages can be arranged if needed.
A copy of the questionnaire has been sent to everyone currently receiving services from Health and Adult Social Care and people on the Carers’ Register.
People who respond also have the chance of winning a £50 shopping voucher in a prize draw.
