Study highlights ignorance about autism
A study carried out by the autism charity, Treehouse, has revealed that there is a lack of understanding among the general public about autism.
The results of the survey found that 58% of parents or carers of autistic children had been criticised by members of the public for their child’s behaviour, 32% of parents and carers reported that their child had been excluded from a club or activity, and 87% felt unsupported by their community.
Treehouse is launching a national campaign, ‘Talk about Autism’, supported by TalkTalk, which aims to improve public understanding of autism.
