Government reveals record number of social care candidates

Contractors in the UK’s healthcare sector could be among those to benefit from an improvement in the industry due to an increase in recruitment numbers.

New figures released by the Department of Health have revealed that there is a record number of candidates currently looking for employment in social care.

According to the figures, more than 28,000 people have indicated they would relish the opportunity to work in the sector.

The candidates registered their interest on a government-funded website, which has been run by the United Kingdom Homecare Association.

Care services minister, Phil Hope, said: “More and more people are considering a career in social care, which is brilliant news.

“Not only does it give people the chance to make a real difference to someone else’s life, it also offers great opportunities for career progression. We know there are thousands of vacancies in social care and any employers looking for enthusiastic candidates will find a wealth of them by using CareJobFinder as part of their recruitment plans.”
