Care worker found guilty of assault at Wheathampstead Home
A CARE worker has been found guilty of the assault of a vulnerable adult at a home in Wheathampstead. Mark Hooper, 46, from Stopsley, Luton, was given an 18-month conditional discharge and fined £200 after being found guilty of assault and sentenced at St Albans Magistrates Court.
Hooper was arrested and charged in June last year with common assault after he repeatedly, with his full weight, sat on the lap of one of his residents in his care in order to restrain her.
Investigating officer Pc Christine Rollings said: “In this instance Hooper abused his position and used excessive and unreasonable force to restrain a vulnerable resident in his care who suffers with partial blindness and learning difficulties.”
