Health and social care recruitment on the rise
Contractors working as sole traders or limited companies in the healthcare sector could be among those to have noticed a sharp rise in opportunities in the industry, a new report has suggested.
An analysis of around eight million jobs postings, published by job advert distribution service Broadbean, revealed that the sector saw “an unprecedented rise” in recruitment in 2009.
The organisation said the increase could be attributed in part to the government’s recruitment drive for social workers.
However, the analysis did not provide such positive results for recruitment in other sectors.
According to the report, the total number of job adverts posted by its clients last year dropped by 32 per cent when compared to 2008.
Broadbean said the figures “highlighted the extent of Britain’s recession”.
The report also revealed that adverts for positions in the IT sector had fallen by 32.6 per cent.
However, these results are in contrast with figures published by e-skills, which revealed the number of professionals working in IT has increased at double the national average for all sectors over the last eight years.
