Cambridgeshire sex attack social worker is struck off
A FORMER health official convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl has been removed from the social care register. Kevin Mence, 43, was employed as a social worker by Cambridgeshire County Council when the allegations came to light last year.
He was practice manager of South Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership at Ida Darwin Hospital in Fulbourn.
At Norwich Crown Court in November 2008 he admitted twice sexually assaulting the girl, who was not his client.
Mence, from Kings Lynn, who was also convicted of child pornography offences, was jailed for 16 months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
This week Mence was removed from the social care register by an independent committee of the General Social Care Council (GSCC).
The committee found Mence guilty of serious misconduct.
