Bid to save Blackburn care home jobs
COUNCIL bosses say they hope to avoid redundancies at a care home that has been earmarked for closure.
It has been revealed Brookside Care Home, Pearl Street, Blackburn, is set to close in a cost-saving measure.
The home has 15 people living there but a capacity of 27, and Blackburn with Darwen council said it was not viable to keep it open.
Council officers have said they would look to redeploy some of the 29 staff to other homes, and give others the chance to apply for other jobs at the council.
The final decision on closure will be taken after consultation.
