Video Court Link For Ex-Nursery Boss Accused Of 40 Child Sex Offences

The former general manager of a nursery school near Trowbridge accused of more than 40 child sex offences has had his case transferred to crown court.

Simon Burrows, 44, of Lacock Gardens, Hilperton, appeared before magistrates in Swindon this morning via video link from HMP Horfield in Bristol, where he has been remanded in custody.

Burrows faces 42 charges, including counts of sexual activity with a child, causing a child to watch a sex act, voyeurism, taking/making indecent photos and exposure.

He is also charged with digital penetration of a child under 13, which is an offence that can only be dealt with by the crown court.

All of the alleged victims are under 10 years old.

At the hearing this morning, Burrows spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

advertisementDefence solicitor Mike Pulsford said his client would not be entering pleas to any of the charges until the case reached crown court. No application for bail was made.

Magistrates heard a summary of the offences before remanding Burrows in custody to reappear before Swindon Crown Court on November 9.

Burrows helped set up Bumble Bees Nursery in Steeple Ashton, along with his wife Kyrstie, who is not being investigated by police.

The nursery, which was located in the former Steeple Ashton Primary School, has now closed.
