Sir Cliff Richard Loses Mother To Alzheimer’s

Sir Cliff Richard’s mother has died at the age of 87 after suffering Alzheimer’s disease. Dorothy Webb developed dementia in her early seventies.

Last year Sir Cliff, 67, spoke of his pain at watching the disease ravage his mother. “She doesn’t care about what she looks like, she stays in bed,” he told BBC Radio 4. “She is living, but what [Alzheimer’s] does is take away your life.” His father died in 1961.

His mother remarried and was later divorced. Sir Cliff became a campaigner for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust.
