Residential Care – A Service For The Future

The English Community Care Association (ECCA) has welcomed the research by Professor Ron Brookmeyer from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in Maryland which clearly identifies that the growth in the older population will require more residential care if we are to support people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, the leading representative body for independent care homes, said: “This report is a wake up call for the Government and local commissioners who must understand the need to plan for the future and should be both supporting and developing today’s residential care services in order to meet the challenges of the coming generation”.

Martin Green continued: “It is only by both recognising and resourcing residential care that we will be able to provide high quality services for the next generation”.
