Police Alert Care Home Staff As Resident Is Attacked In Bed

Police are warning staff at residential care homes for the elderly to be extra vigilant after a bed-ridden woman suffered a serious sexual assault. A member of staff at the home in Nottinghamshire, disturbed a naked man in the woman’s room, while making routine patrols early yesterday morning.

The intruder, described as being black, aged 20-25, with dread-locks, ran off. Det Insp Sean Anderson said the attack against the woman in her 80s, who was a stroke victim, “defies belief”.

A police spokeswoman added they would not be releasing more details at present about the condition of the woman following the attack. Residential home owners and guests were being warned by the police to be extra vigilant, and to close doors and windows at night, until the man is caught.

Det Insp Sean Anderson, who is in charge of the inquiry, said: “It defies belief that someone can sink so low as to attack and sexually abuse a helpless old lady who has had a stroke and who is incapable of defending herself.” He urged anyone with information to contact police as soon as possible.
