Pair In Hospital After Care Home Fire

Two elderly residents were rescued from a Birmingham care home when a fire broke out. The man and a woman were taken to safety as firecrews tackled the blaze at Meadow Lodge in Edgbaston.

The man was then taken to the City Hospital where his condition was said to be life-threatening while the woman was also detained.

A second elderly woman was treated at the scene of the fire which broke out at the home on Hagley Road on Friday.
