Somerset Care Home Staff’s Work Is Rewarded

Two members of staff from Field House in Shepton Mallet were among Somerset Care staff honoured at a ceremony recognising long service, effort and commitment.

Nicola Sweet, previously a care worker at Fletcher House in Wells but now deputy manager at Field House, and care worker Daphne Jack joined 120 other award-winning staff and guests from Somerset Care Ltd, Somerset Care at Home Ltd, and Acacia Training and Development Ltd for the presentations at Taunton Racecourse

Awards were made for long service totalling 790 years, with one member of staff having worked for more than 35 years, and 29 special achievement awards were also made to staff and volunteers who had been nominated by their fellow colleagues.

The presentations were made by Barrie Dale, chairman of Somerset Care Ltd, chief executive Andrew Larpent, MP Jeremy Browne, and Miriam Maddison, corporate director at Somerset County Council.

Speaking at the ceremony, Andrew Larpent said that the event to mark the company’s Care Awards scheme was a chance to recognise the great work which goes on throughout the Somerset Care Group every day.

He added that the achievement awards were a reflection on every member of the Somerset Care Group staff team.
