Four charged in connection with death of woman, 84, in care home

Four people have been charged in connection with the death of a woman at a care home in Derby.

Shirley Froggett, 84, died in October 2018 following a fall at the New Lodge Nursing Home (pictured) in Mickleover, Derbyshire Police said.

The force said on Friday that three women and a man had now been charged in connection with Mrs Froggett’s death and had appeared in court.

Alison Linda Foster, of St John’s Road, Stoke-on-Trent, Nakeeba Akhtar, of St Chads Road, Stoke-on-Trent, and Prabina Thapa, of Bartley Wilson Way, Cardiff, were all charged with perverting the course of justice and wilful neglect.

Amar Muneer, of Blackpool Street, Burton-on-Trent, was charged with wilful neglect.

The force said that the four appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court in Derby on October 26 and were given unconditional bail to appear at Derby Crown Court on a later date.
