Woman with ‘chaotic lifestyle’ has third child taken from her care in five years
A woman has had three children taken from her care in the space of five years after social workers raised concerns about her drug and alcohol misuse, mental health difficulties and “chaotic lifestyle”.
Two, born in 2010 and 2012, were placed for adoption following a ruling by a family court judge in 2013.
The third, a girl aged one, has now also been taken from the woman’s care following a private family court hearing in Manchester.
Judge Iain Hamilton has ruled that the little girl should be placed for adoption.
Detail of the case has emerged in a ruling published by Judge Hamilton.
He ruled that the family could not be identified but said social services staff at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (pictured), which is based in Greater Manchester, had responsibility for the little girl’s welfare.
The judge said the woman had met the girl’s father, who had a history of violence, via Facebook.
He said they had separated before their daughter was born.
Judge Hamilton concluded that neither could care for the little girl.
He said there was no other “realistic” option but adoption.
