Social workers to Skype young brothers in family dispute who were taken to Iraq

Social workers are set to Skype two brothers at the centre of family court litigation after being taken to Iraq.

A judge says he wants to hear what the boys, who are 14 and 11, have to say about the dispute between their parents.

Mr Justice Holman has told staff at a specialist organisation set up to safeguard the interests of children embroiled in the family court proceedings to contact the youngsters in Iraq.

The judge says social workers at Cafcass, the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, aim to carry out Skype interviews.

Detail of the plan has emerged in a ruling by the judge on the latest stage of the dispute following a hearing in the Family Division of the High Court in Manchester.

The judge has not identified the family involved but said the boys were born and grew up in England.

Their mother was British and their father of Iraqi descent.

She says their father has wrongly moved to Iraq with the youngsters and she wants the boys to be returned to the UK.
