Residents evacuated after fire breaks out at care home in Kent

Residents have been evacuated following a fire at a care home.

Kent Fire and Rescue sent three engines to the residential home in Pilgrims Way, Canterbury, at about 1.15am on Wednesday.

Firefighters said crews found a fire in a bedroom on the first floor and all residents were evacuated to another building.

It is not known how many residents and staff were in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known and investigations will take place on Wednesday, the service added.
