Explore careers in allied health & social work at Oxford Brookes event

Next week (6 – 11 March) is National Careers Week and Oxford Brookes University will be holding a careers evening in partnership with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people leaving education.

The careers evening will take place at the University’s Headington Campus on Tuesday 7 March from 5.00pm – 7.00pm to give people interested in healthcare the opportunity to explore careers in the NHS.

Open to 14 to 24 year olds, there will be events split into three careers paths; nursing and midwifery, allied health professional development and medical careers and social work.

Many frontline staff from Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust including paramedics, mental health nurses, physiotherapists, social workers and dietitians will be available on the day to talk about the varied careers available.

Dr Liz Westcott, Head of the Department of Nursing at Oxford Brookes University said: We are excited to be teaming up with Oxford Health to jointly host the careers evening and are expecting a great turnout. Together we will be giving visitors the opportunity to gain valuable insight into careers in a wide range of healthcare professions.

“Our staff and current students will be available on the evening to talk about life as a student working in healthcare practice and give advice and information about the exciting and diverse range of courses available to study.”

The careers evening be at the University’s Headington Campus in the John Henry Brookes Building.
