Teacher impersonated pupil in call to Childline to make false sex assault claims
A teacher rang Childline and impersonated a pupil to falsely accuse a colleague of sexual assault, Scotland Yard has said.
Sheena Boll, 35, pretended to be a 14-year-old girl from the school she worked at in Newham, east London, to make the allegation during a call to the helpline in March last year.
Police launched an investigation into her male colleague but the accusation was traced back to Boll (pictured), who was arrested in May and admitted making the call.
Boll, of Woodstock Road, east London, pleaded guilty to one count of making malicious communications and was handed an 11-week suspended sentence during a hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court on January 24.
The mother-of-one, who was sacked following her arrest, was also ordered to serve 200 hours of community service and pay costs and compensation to her victim.
Detective Constable Ben Land said: “This was a calculated attempt to deceive professionals who are committed to safeguarding the most vulnerable children into believing that this hard-working, dedicated and caring colleague in her school was responsible for abuse against one of their pupils.
“Fortunately Boll’s efforts to mask her true identity were unsuccessful and we have received a positive outcome with the conviction and restoration of the professional reputation of the victim.”
