Care provider to recruit 25 care assistants at Jobs Fair in Guildford

People considering a career in care can chat to Bluebird Care’s fully-trained workers at a ‘Care Job Fair’ at Guildford Job Centre next week.

Learning a variety of key skills, including how to save a life, the old-Woking based care provider is currently creating 25 care assistant jobs as a result of an increase in older people wanting to live independently at home.

The organisation provides care to people in their own homes across the Guildford, Woking and Waverley areas. Although people aged 18 upwards are welcome to apply for a job, director Brian Colvin says middle-aged people often make great care assistants.

Bluebird Care director Brian Colvin said: “Being a care assistant suits people who want to give something back to their local community by really making a difference to someone’s life. It’s a very satisfying job and we hope to be able to recruit additional members of staff to care for an increasing number of people at home.”

Michelle Willoughby, 58, from Guildford, took a long break from work to spend time with her teenage family and recover from a medical issue.

She said: “Returning to work was daunting but I saw that Bluebird Care were looking for care assistants. The work was varied. I care, love people and enjoy communicating! Perfect. Since passing my induction three and a half years ago I have achieved an NVQ in social care. All training needed is given and updated regularly.

“The best part of my role, which is varied to say the least, is the trust and appreciation from the clients, their family and friends. To help improve the quality of life of our clients and see the results is so rewarding. Bluebird Care is a great team and the support is immeasurable.

“This year my first grandson was born and I can have the time I want to spend with him and work too.”

Bluebird Care provides care in people’s own homes and covers Guildford, Old Woking, Woking, Waverley, Farnham, Hindhead, Godalming, Haslemere, Cranleigh, Shere and the surrounding areas.

If you are interested in these opportunities, you are encouraged to drop in to Guildford Job Centre on Wednesday, November 30, from 10am to 12noon.
