Webwatch: Nursing Times & Care England microsite
The Nursing Times and Care England have launched a new microsite for nurses working in the care sector.
The website provides a community hub for nurses working in the sector, and provides an opportunity for care homes and care providers to share best practice. The five teaching care homes – Barchester Healthcare, The Order of St John’s Care Trust, Methodist Homes Association, HC One and Jewish Care – will showcase initiatives they are working on to improve social care. The site will also include opinion pieces from senior nurses working in the Department of Health, Care England and major nursing charities as well as ministers and regulators.
“Care homes are an essential part of an integrated health and social care system and they have an important role to play in training and developing an integrated workforce. We are confident that the teaching care home will be an important part of developing 21st Century services that cross the continuum between health and social care. We welcome this exciting partnership with Nursing Times.”, said Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England.
Speaking about the launch, Jenni Middleton, Editor of Nursing Times, said: “The care sector is often seen as a backwater of nursing, but it is an incredibly innovative and autonomous space to practice in and we wanted to showcase this. We are delighted to be working with Care England to profile fantastic social care sector work.”
