NISCC Workforce Standards roadshows begin in Lisburn

The first of a series of roadshows to promote the new Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) Standards of Conduct and Practice for the social care workforce took place in Lisburn earlier this week.

Throughout October, NISCC staff will be promoting the Standards for social workers, social care workers and their employers in Belfast, Antrim, Portadown, Fivemiletown and Derry.

The new Standards of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers and Social Workers will be effective from 1 November 2015. They describe the values, attitudes and behaviours expected of these workers in their day to day work. They also outline the knowledge and skills required for competent practice. The Standards apply to all those working in social work and social care job roles and are a key component of their professional registration with NISCC.

As there are separate Standards for social workers and social care workers, two sessions are being offered at each venue to target both registrant groups. Employers have been invited to attend either or both sessions dependent on the staff group/s they employ.

The Standards are available to view in various formats on the NISCC website and printed copies will be distributed to every registrant shortly.
