Cardiff to host conference on Early Years developments in Wales

Capita Conferences have announced their Early Years Wales Conference will take place on 22nd October 2015 in Cardiff.

As the Building a Brighter Future: The Early Years and Childcare Plan completes the second of a ten year strategy to improve outcomes in the early years, organisers say the conference is ideally timed to evaluate progress so far and examine the key priorities for the year ahead.

The event provides the opportunity to hear from the Care Council for Wales on Welsh Government plans to invest in training and the ambition for a bilingual workforce and gain an update on the joint inspection framework led by CSSIW and Estyn which seeks to ensure early years provision continues to build on improving life chances and achieving good outcomes.

Also, the conference will explore how Flying Start can help effectively prepare early learners for the Foundation Phase by age 3 and evaluate how progression in the early years curriculum can be charted through the Foundation Phase Profile (FPP) from age 3-7 years.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Donna Davies, Policy Advisor to Chief Inspector – Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW)
  • Sioned Williams, Senior Manager for Workforce Development – Care Council for Wales
  • Claire Protheroe, Direct Services Manager (Wales) – PACEY Cymru
  • David Egan, Professor of Welsh Education Policy and Director – University of Wales Trinity Saint David
  • Shelley Davies, Senior Partnership Manager – Powys County Council
  • Beth Watkins, Flying Start Manager – Monmouthshire County Council

Attending ensures you are up to date with early years developments while providing the opportunity to share learning on the practical implementation of key policy and programmes to enhance your services and achieve the best outcomes.
