Scots conference aimed at driving innovation in dementia education
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are inviting educators and students to attend a free conference titled Promoting Excellence: Shifting the paradigm in dementia care and support – driving innovation in education.
The conference is aimed at those currently studying or delivering a qualification in social work, social care, nursing, pharmacy, psychology or an allied health profession.
Through a mixture of key note addresses, discussion, and concurrent workshops sessions this event welcomes educators and students to:
- be updated on the context and key policy and service developments driving improvements in the care and support of people with dementia in Scotland
- explore the NES/SSSC Promoting Excellence national dementia education programme and resources
- examine best practice in cross sector learning, teaching and assessment approaches
- be updated on developments in dementia care and support in a number of key areas
- consider how Promoting Excellence relates to existing occupational standards and how its content can be embedded in qualifications
- explore the contribution of social service and healthcare education in effecting better outcomes for people with dementia, their families and carers.
