Scottish care workforce underestimated by 1200

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has identified an error in the data supplied by the Care Inspectorate for 2012 which was published in the Scottish Social Service Workforce Data Report for 2012.

This has resulted in the social service workforce headcount being underestimated by approximately 1,200 or 0.06% of the sector workforce.

The error affected several chapters of the 2012 report and seems have been replicated in online data as well as in data requests made to the SSSC.

The report and related data sets have been withdrawn, and the error is being rectified with a revised workforce data report published in October 2014.

The SSSC have stressed the error does not affect the new data report published this month and only applies to 2012.
