Aberdeen care workers struck off register

A Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) scrutiny panel has found two Aberdeen care workers guilty of misconduct resulting in both being struck off the register.

In one hearing, Kayleigh Coleman was found guilty of failing to look after a boy, locking the boy out the home he was staying in, was verbally aggressive towards him and left him alone overnight on several occasions.

She was also guilty of having a controlled drug in her home which the child could access, refusing to give the youngster money sent to him by his mother and grandmother for Christmas and not allowing him to phone his family.

In a second hearing, support worker Joseph Scoular was found to have made negative comments about the children in his care.

He was also guilty of making negative and discriminatory comments to external inspectors about his colleagues – and telling service users they would be denied food because of their “poor behaviour”.

Both Ms Coleman and Mr Scoular were removed from the register at the hearings in Dundee.
