Elgin social care co-ordinator struck off over theft

A social care co-ordinator who stole more than £1,200 from several adult day service residents has been struck off.

Robert Smith was a service co-ordinator at the unnamed service in Elgin between July 2010 and July 2013.

Smith was also found guilty of using building material from the day service for his own personal use.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) said Mr Smith’s misconduct was serious due to the timescale and said a removal order from its register was the only appropriate sanction available.

It said this was to safeguard the interests of service users and the public.
