Finalists for Scotland’s social services accolades announced
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has today announced the social service projects across Scotland that have made it to the final of the annual Care Accolades awards, to be held in Perth in June.
Voluntary, private and local authority services, a community health and care partnership and a number multi agency projects have made the shortlist for this year’s Care Accolades with new and innovative projects that are transforming social services across Scotland.
The judging panel decided on 25 outstanding projects and services that are making a big difference to people who use social services in Scotland.
This year’s finalists include a service helping prevent the breakdown of family relationships when a parent is in prison, a project creating innovative social opportunities for people in the local community living with dementia and a care home that has worked with partner organisations to set up a unit within their service to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.
Professor Jim McGoldrick, SSSC Convener and Chair of the Care Accolades 2014 judging panel said: “It is great to hear about outstanding and innovative services and projects in Scotland’s social services.
“The judges faced difficult decisions selecting the finalists and we were very impressed with the high quality of the entries showcasing social services across Scotland. The entries showed how inventive services are, often dealing with difficult issues but always focusing on the difference it is making to people using the service.“
The winners will be announced at the award ceremony at Perth Concert Hall, Perth on Tuesday 10 June 2014.
