Adult social care company to start trading in Buckinghamshire

The trading company set up by Buckinghamshire CC to deliver adult social care services will start trading from 1 October.
Buckinghamshire Care, which was established in a bid to protect services against government cuts, has appointed Paul Woodward as its first Chairman. Mr Woodward was chief executive of care charity Sue Ryder for six years and managed to bring the charity back into the black after eight years of losses.

Cabinet member for health and wellbeing, Patricia Birchley, said: ‘I’m pleased to welcome Paul Woodward into his role as the first Chairman of Buckinghamshire Care Limited. His impressive work as the Chief Executive of Sue Ryder gives him a deep understanding of care services and experience of successfully leading an organisation with a strong identity and powerful ethos.’

Buckinghamshire Care will be wholly owned by the council, with any profit invested back into council services.
