Opportunities for young social care workers in Dearne Valley

One hundred unemployed young people will have the opportunity to study for a career in social care thanks to the continuation of a training initiative run by Barnsley Council.

The authority is to continue a training contract with its adult and Family Learning service and Dearne Valley College at Wath-upon-Dearne.

The agreement will see the continuation of the Future Carers Programme from August. Run with Jobcentre Plus and the college, the programme provides pre-employment training in the social care industry for unemployed people aged 19 years and above. Work experience and jobs are provided in conjunction with local employers.
