Scottish Social Services Council launch workforce data website
The SSSC has launched the Scottish Social Services Workforce Data website. For the first time the social services sector in Scotland can access a unique, free to use, online resource which provides all the workforce data and reports we publish on the social service sector in one place.
The website features a ground-breaking data visualisation section that allows users to interact with and compare data across six key characteristics by local authority area.
Anyone involved in planning and delivering social services in Scotland at a national or local level can use this flexible, easy-to-use tool to help understand their local workforce environment. They can identify gaps in supply, benchmark against other areas and improve their understanding and knowledge of their own and neighbouring areas.
The website holds data for the past five years and also features a calendar of events and publication dates, minutes and papers of meetings, policy documents and news items.
The Scottish Social Services Workforce Data website will be the place where SSSC publishes its annual reports such as the Mental Health Officers’ Report 2012, the Scottish Social Services Sector: Report on 2012 Workforce Data as well as other useful data reports.
The news section keeps users informed about publication dates and updates about our work and the data revisions section contains any revisions or corrections made to previously published data or reports.
The SSSC has responsibilities as a producer of Official and National Statistics under the Code of Practice for Statistics. You can find out more about what this means on the website.
Anna Fowlie, Chief Executive of the SSSC said today: “We want to make the essential data that will help organisations to plan ahead as easy to use as possible. For the first time in Scotland, the social service sector can examine and manipulate data on this new website.
“We’ve published workforce data since 2008 and our investment in this website demonstrates our commitment to help the sector plan for the future. In the current economic climate having key information is even more important for employers of all sizes to improve and plan the future workforce to meet growing demand.”
