Nurse ‘told care home resident her dinner looked like lump of s****’

A care home nurse faces a disciplinary hearing accused of telling a resident that her dinner “looked like a lump of s****”.

Laura Anne Gilmour faces a misconduct hearing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council over her work at the facility in East Renfrewshire.

She is accused of telling one resident at Norwood Care Home in Barrhead that the sausages on her dinner plate “looked like a lump of s****” or words to that effect.

Ms Gilmour also faces an allegation that she told one fellow nurse that a colleague had obtained a senior carer’s job by allegedly performing sexual acts.

The council’s conduct and competence subcommittee is scheduled to hear the case in Edinburgh next week.

Ms Gilmour is also accused of incorrectly providing fluids for a resident at the Bupa care home in October 2010.

The council’s notice of allegations state that she provided fluid consisting of sodium chloride and glucose with no written authorisation or prescription from a GP.

According to the Bupa website, Norwood Care Home contains two units, providing long-term and dementia nursing care in 54 rooms.
