New clinical appointment at Stirling dementia centre
The Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling has appointed its first Clinical Research Professor of Dementia Studies.
Professor Emma Reynish is a consultant physician with an international reputation for research and setting up services for older people.
She will continue to work in the NHS part-time, partly in order to make sure that research carried out at the centre is of direct practical value to the real world of health care.
Her team already provides degree programmes in dementia studies for students around the world. They also undertake research programmes to improve knowledge about making a difference for people with dementia and their carers.
Prof Reynolds studied medicine in Wales and returned to the NHS in Scotland after training in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Toulouse in France. She was appointed Honorary Professor at Stirling University two years ago.
