Children’s Reporter appoint Carole Wilkinson as new Chair
The Minister for Children and Early Years today announced the appointment of a new Chair to the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration. The new Chair is Carole Wilkinson.
Carole Wilkinson recently retired from the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), where she had held the post of Chief Executive since its creation in 2001. At the SSSC she was responsible for introducing the registration and regulation of the social services workforce and setting the required qualifications. This included raising the standards and expectations of staff in residential child care and early years services. Prior to taking up post at the SSSC, having held a number of senior posts in local authorities, where she was responsible for managing a range of children’s services and overseeing child protection work, she became Director of Social Work in Falkirk. She recently chaired the group set up by Scottish Government to examine residential child care, was a member of Barnardo’s Scottish Committee for a number of years and in 2001 was elected President of the Association of Directors of Social Work (ADSW).
This appointment will be for four years and will run from May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2014.
This post is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £20,122 for a time commitment of two days per week.
Carole Wilkinson holds no other Public Appointments.
The Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) is the Executive Non-departmental Public Body (NDPB) responsible for taking decisions on whether children and young people referred to the Principal Reporter may require compulsory measures of supervision.
SCRA was established on April 1, 1995 under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 and became operational on April 1, 1996. Based in Stirling it has offices across Scotland and has an annual budget of £26 million, which includes running costs.
