1 In 10 Scots Miss Out On Essentials Because Of Poverty

About one in 10 Scots have gone without medicine, food or electricity because of poverty, according to a study. Nine per cent of people who participated in the survey said they had gone hungry.

10% had stopped heating their home, while 11% said they had been too poor to pay for medicine, according to the survey for children’s charity NCH and Barclays Bank.

The findings were released as they launched a £1.8m joint initiative to help those on low incomes avoid debt.
