‘Overhaul’ of adult social care services will save £565k, says council
AN overhaul of Bournemouth’s adult social care department will save £565,000 and should ensure residents receive an improved service.
Cabinet members will on Wednesday be presented with a business case to improve the efficiency of adult social care services.
The recommendations include a cashable saving of £565,000, improving the first point of contact for residents enquiring about adult social care services, developing self-help, self-assessment and referral tools on the council’s website, focusing on early intervention and restructuring the safeguarding team.
The council also intends to review the residential and nursing homes it provides to ensure that facilities are fit for purpose and meeting demand.
A second phase of the review will take place later this year, which will explore partnership opportunities, outsourcing and commissioning to make further savings.
