Wirral council launches online social care ‘one stop shop’
New website aims to provide residents with information on health and social care services in the area
Wirral council has launched a new website which brings together information on health, social care and wellbeing from a range of organisations. The new site has been developed by Voluntary and Community Action Wirral, a network of voluntary and not-for-profit groups, services and organisations from the area. The council hopes that it will reduce the need for people to visit multiple websites and agencies to get the information they want. It said the site will be particularly useful to those who are seeking services for families and carers.
People will be able to access a range of information on subjects from outdoors activities to art classes and growing their own food. Information on care homes, assistive technology and managing long term health conditions is also available.
Ann McArdle, Wirral’s cabinet member for social care and inclusion, said: “The website has taken on board views from a consultation with people who both use and provide services and showed a clear demand for a central information point. It has been tested, and I’m pleased to say has been well received by all involved.”
Annette Roberts, chief executive, Voluntary and Community Action Wirral, said: “We welcome Wirral Council’s support for this website and hope that organisations find it a useful source of information for their clients and that it becomes a tool for organisations to raise awareness of their own services.”
