Fleet Valley care home future looks settled following administration news
JUST 12 hours after the announcement that the owners of Fleet Valley Care Home in Gatehouse had gone into administration, it was confirmed that a new owner was already lined up.
PKF were appointed as the administrator on Tuesday and they confirmed to Labour councillors that the home will continue to operate as normal during the transition. Once the new operator has been approved by the Care Inspectorate they will formally take over the running of the care home.
The home provides space for 43 people and is one of 12 across Scotland.
Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown said: “The uncertainty of administration is deeply concerning for residents of Fleet Valley, but I hope they will be able to take some comfort from the fact the financial footing of the care home seems sound and that it has attracted a new operator so soon. The administrators are moving quickly to get the new company in place and it is vitally important that information gets out to residents, families and staff as quickly as possible because people are understandably worried about the future.”
SNP MSP Aileen McLeod said: “I welcome the guarantees that care will not be interrupted and it is reassuring the Government and Councils are keeping a close eye on the situation.
“Care needs to be the priority just now and ensuring staff and residents are kept fully informed of developments is vital. Despite concerns over Southern Cross, care was protected and we should make sure it is again.
“It is also encouraging to hear the company believes there will be no redundancies and the residents are not at any risk.
“I will however be writing to the company to seek guarantees for residents, families and staff.”
