Liverpool council plans to axe social services for people with ‘moderate’ needs

LIVERPOOL council has started asking for views on plans to axe social services for people with “moderate” needs.

It is proposing to remove the banding due to its need to to find £91m of savings.

Around 1,400 people currently receive moderate social care support in Liverpool.

Where people do need help, the emphasis will be on short-term assistance to get them back to a level where they do not need ongoing support.

A series of consultation events are being held over the next few weeks.

Meetings for anyone affected will be held at LACE Conference Centre, in Sefton Park, on Friday April 1 from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.
